Facebook 1 Step Away From Becomming Myspace
I found this page today. I’m sorry if you saw it ages ago, and perhaps I am a bit slow - but since when are you able to create pages for bands, businesses, products or public figures? Did I miss this?
Rachael also wrote about Facebook today, and mentioned how all of the third party applications (the apps) are ruining the site itself. I have to agree 100% with this statement. Now everytime I log in, I have 100,000 different requests asking me if I’d like to add hot or not, or rate my mate, or my face is ace, (OK I’m making these up.)
I used to love the simplicity and cleanliness of the site: fast loading, easy to look at, simple and to the point. Now, I detest logging, having to be forced to look at the millions of applications my friends have on their pages (some of my friends really do have millions) just to find the wall to post a comment to that friend. Then the ultimate insult: they’ve hidden their wall in place of that stupid superwall. !Or funwall. Or whateverwall.)
Then I have to scroll through the millions of pictures that everyone has posted, all the same, of the same thing, to the same person, stupid chain pictures, whilst my computer is dying a slow and painful death, just to post a message to that person, perhaps to say happy birthday, or I don’t know, comment on something that happened in my day, just to end up FORWARDING THAT MESSAGE to EVERYBODY in my friend list.
Yes, I ended up sending EVERYBODY on my list a message that basically said that my bosses would ‘one day end up working for me’. *Evil cackle* (They will.) Luckily, the only one of my managers on my friend list doesn’t seem to have the superwall thing, and also she wouldn’t care anyway, as she’s pretty cool…
Back to the point. Facebook is one step away from turning itself into Myspace. Three words:
CSS DIV OVERLAYS
The day they engraciate themselves onto Facebook, is the day I sit down with some Ajax books and learn a way of making my own spiffy social networking site.

Oh my, I know! It’s really bothering me. Lol. But I am addicted to Facebook, so I can’t just walk away! The only app I quite enjoy is 10 Second Interview. Because I get to blab about myself, which is obviously one of my favourite activities *points to blog*. Still, I giggled when I read Rachael’s blog post, since she sent me an invite to an app today.
Just had a request for “What fruit are you?”
*sighs*
I’d have to agree and it’s quite sad. I miss the old facebook!
I know what you mean! Sometimes I get so fed up with decline said invites all the time though that I just accept the blooming things and be done with it! Then they’re just there cluttering up my facebook page, not getting used.
Though I have a Facebook account, I don’t use it much since only a handful of my friends have an account too but I do use Bebo and it is already a terrible mess. They too recently introduced an application thingy and it is most offputting, just like the experiences you described having with Facebook. But Bebo’s changes haven’t at all put people off, so maybe people will prove too addicted to Facebook to care also.

I was just discussing this a while ago with my sister. We have noticed that Facebook seems to be going down the pan, especially with all those stupid, pointless applications that seem to be clogging people’s profiles. I have never seen so much useless junk on a web page before. It takes eternity to find somebody’s wall to post on, very annoying.

I have the largest resolution, I just wanted to keep it simple. My last layout was big and because I had to change it fast I made it small. I’ll be getting a domain soon anyways, so I’m not aiming for anything large right now anyways…
Yeah I’ll fix the padding, my CSS is messed up right now, argh.
I got the colours from a background I have on my pc haha, I couldn’t think of any colours. I’m crap at being inspired…
